Easy Hazelnut Brownies

Ingredients:

1/3 cup (80 mL) butter, softened

½ cup (125 mL) brown sugar

1 ¼ cup (300 mL) Nutella hazelnut spread, divided

2 large eggs

3/4 cup (175 mL) all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp (2 mL) baking powder

1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt

1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla

1/2 cup (125 mL) semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

sea salt, optional garnish

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
2. Line an 8 x 8 inch (20cm x 20cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
3. Using an electric mixer, at high speed cream together butter and sugar.
4. Reduce mixing speed to medium, add eggs and vanilla.
5. Add 1 cup (250 ml) Nutella and salt, scraping sides of bowl to combine mixture.
6. On low speed, combine flour and baking powder until batter is combined, do not overmix.
7. Fold in chocolate chips (if using).
8. Pour batter into prepared pan.
9. Drop reserved ¼ cup (50 mL) Nutella in teaspoons throughout surface of the brownie batter. Using a knife, swirl Nutella into batter. Top with an optional garnish of sea salt.
10. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 25-30 minutes.
11. Allow brownies to cool in pan set on a wire rack before slicing.
